Drinking Grass
I learn a lot at the fabulous health food store and deli where I work, and wheatgrass juice is my new favorite 20 questions subject: “Wow, really? It does all that for your body in just 1 oz? How do you grow it? How much does one of those wheatgrass juicers cost and why does it have to look so much like a meat grinder? Do I really want to drink something daily that tastes like I’m sticking my face in my lawn and drinking it? Where’s the juice in that tiny blade of grass?” All I can tell you for sure is that people who get hooked on their daily dose of wheatgrass say it makes them feel incredibly healthy, kicks the life out of any cold they may be coming down with and is worth every penny, effort and funky flavor (although some people like the grassy taste that surprises with a super-sweet after-taste). I’m still considering making it a daily habit. For now, I’ll let the wheatgrass devotees continue to try and convince me of its unlimited powers. Give it a try next time you’re near a health food store that can juice some up for you. I’ll keep you posted on my decision …
