Eat Yummy Food, Cut Cancer Risk
The Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine promotes the endless health benefits of an animal product-free diet. PCRM’s Cancer Project Food for Life classes bring those health benefits into people’s lives through cooking seminars held throughout America. If you can find one of these classes in your area, go. You’re sure to be inspired and come home with a new sense that cooking animal product-free food can be delicious and easy.
According to Cancer Project staff, the Food for Life program is targeted to reach people battling cancer, cancer survivors and families, health professionals, medical students and children. The empowering message here is: Even if you have cancer or are recovering from cancer treatments, or if you are someone who works with sick people, or even if you are a child, you can learn ways to take proactive steps for your health every day by what you choose to prepare and put in your mouth. Studies have shown a decrease in cancer returning in patients who adopt a plant-based diet, and it’s common knowledge now that the more fruits and vegetables one eats, the more ammo your body has to fight off cancer before it starts.
In 2006, the Cancer Project held 1,800 Food for Life classes, then jumped to 2,100 in 2007 and to 2,600 in 2008. This is great news for all of us. The more people who know how to cook and eat healthier, plant-based diets, the more consumer demand will increase for such foods. Grocery stores, convenience marts, schools, restaurants and even sports stadiums, movie theaters and fast food joints will all start offering more healthy choices. The more people who demand healthy food choices, the more supply there will be. And the Cancer Project is helping spread the good news that it’s yummy to want to eat healthy.
