Dana Villamagna, MSJ, is a freelance health and food writer. Dana graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Minnesota and earned a master's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. She also completed a fellowship in media leadership at The Poynter Institute for Media Studies.

Dana has written for newspapers, magazines and websites for more than 10 years. Her work has appeared in many local, regional and national publications including: Her Sports+Fitness, Mothering, The Writer, Writer's Digest, Islands, Vegetarian Times, Veg News, The Richmond Times-Dispatch, The Virgin Islands Daily News and more. She writes weekly website reviews for CommonSenseMedia.org, and she's a staff writer for Island News magazine.

Dana writes about vegan/vegetarian food (including original recipe creation) and women's health and fitness. As a mom of three and wife of a family medicine doctor, she is especially interested in family health issues and how integrative medicine and daily family lifestyle habits create healthier families. Dana also on occasion writes travel, profile, business, political and environmental stories. She is currently working on her first nonfiction book.
